The cottage sleeps 4. It has two bedrooms, a master with a super king bed and a twin with two single beds.

Yes, you can park a maximum of two cars or one van on the track above the cottage. You must tuck in close to the steps to allow an emergency vehicle or the commercial laundry truck to pass.

No, bedding and towelling including bath towels, a hand towel, tea towels and an oven glove are supplied.

Yes, you can drink the water.

No, the parking is on the south west coast path and no EV charging is permitted.

No, there is no wifi/internet connection at the cottage. There is no landline and mobile reception can be poor. You can get 4G in the garden if the atmospherics are right! Wheal Call is a retreat from all that, but in an emergency you can go to Cape Cornwall Club (golf club next door) to use their wifi.

We provide washing up liquid, cleaning materials, a washing up cloth, tea towels and an oven glove. No food is provided and food must not be left in the cottage at the end of your holiday.

There are local shops in St Just including 2 butchers, a grocers, and the Co-Op which is open late until 10pm.

No, due to the proximity of the cliff edge with no enclosed garden, we do not allow children under 8 years.
Wheal Call is also not suitable for the elderly or guests with mobility issues as there are uneven steps down to the cottage.

We allow dogs following a discussion with the owners and their agreement to abide by Wheal Call’s dog rules.

Most cars can make it down the track unless they are very low slung. In poor, wet weather you might like to park in the National Trust car park on the Cape. Annie and Peter, the car park attendants know Wheal Call well and will let you park there for a small donation to the National Trust.

It is always best to book restaurants ahead of time. There are pubs in St Just and the Cape Cornwall Club (golf club next door) serves meals. Please see my blog about local places to eat on the Journal Page

We have an electric coffee bean grinder and a cafetière style coffee pot. We do not provide a pod/capsule or filter coffee machine.

We have a small, simple electric electric oven and grill and a 4-ring electric hob. In addition there is a microwave.

Wheal Call has a large, walk-in shower. It has mains pressure so great for washing sand off and rinsing shampoo suds! There is no bath at Wheal Call.

Yes, there is an outside tap in the courtyard, great for washing muddy dogs and boots.

No, there is no washing machine. There are a couple of laundrettes in Penzance, otherwise it is down to hand-washing. We do not provide washing powder.

Nope, Wheal Call has none of this, just the views and the sounds of the sea and birds. There are books , games, cards and jigsaw puzzles

All cancellations must be immediately notified by telephone and then in writing. 

If you cancel your holiday more than 10 weeks before it is due to start then your deposit will be returned minus a £50.00 administration charge. 

If you cancel less than 10 weeks prior to the holiday then the deposit of 25% will be kept.  The full balance remains due and is not refundable unless we can re-let your week/weeks.

No, you need to bring your own. If you are coming from abroad we can hire beach towels with prior agreement. We do not provide beach rugs and you are not allowed to take any of the bedroom and sitting room throws outside, thank you.

In the High Season (roughly April until September), Wheal Call is booked out on a weekly basis with a Friday changeover.

In the Low Season (roughly October to March), Wheal Call can also be booked for a short break for a minimum of 3 nights.

Wheal Call is closed in January and February. If the weather is good and all remedial works have been completed, we sometimes open in February.

Wheal Call is a popular destination, so we cannot hold your reservation for more than 48 hrs.

Yes, Short breaks are offered in the Low Season from 2nd October 2026 until 26th March 2027 and are priced accordingly:

3 nights @ £410.00

4 nights @ £545.00

Next year, Short breaks are offered in the Low Season from 1st October 2027 until 17th December 2027 and are priced accordingly:

3 nights @ £450.00

4 nights @ £570.00

“I had the most amazing week in Wheal Call cottage, the views were breathtaking and the sunsets just seemed to get better every evening I was there. The surrounding walks were great with the coastpath starting right outside the door, and the proximity to St. Just made for a lovely walk in to get a pasty and an ice cream!! I made sure there was plenty of storage on my phone knowing that every time I looked out the window or sat on the bench I would want to take a little snap to make sure I could look back on them, when I do I am still astounded by how beautiful it was. Thoroughly recommend Wheal Call. Even though there is no Wifi or mobile signal, our teenagers had a wonderful time. We had an amazing holiday and did not want to leave. Loved it!”
